"Exercise is Medicine" Comes to Life
Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) has partnered with healthcare providers to refer patients to their heart-rate based interval training program, aligning with the "Exercise is Medicine" initiative. This initiative reflects Orangetheory's commitment to "more life" by empowering individuals to achieve their best health. This grassroots referral program emphasizes exercise as both a preventive and therapeutic measure, creating strong connections between fitness and healthcare. OTF's approach includes educational outreach, streamlined referral processes, and continuous feedback loops. During this session, we will present data and case studies showing significant improvements in cardiovascular fitness, chronic disease markers, and overall well-being, demonstrated by program success stories. Attendees will learn how to implement similar programs, contributing to public health through strategic partnerships. By making fitness accessible and integral to medical care, OTF is helping individuals live longer, more vibrant lives.

Expand Your Impact: Strategies to Engage People With Intellectual Disabilities (ID) in Fitness
As demand for diverse fitness programming continues to rise, it may be challenging to know how to get started. This session will prepare fitness professionals and fitness leaders to conduct effective consultations to work with a client with ID for the first time. Additionally, attendees will understand how to conduct fitness and gross motor assessments tailored for people with ID, as well as motor skill development activities that can yield improvements in fitness and activities of daily living for this population. Attendees will be equipped with strategies to determine when and how to provide appropriate exercise modifications. Lastly, participants will understand how to directly involve clients with ID in program design to support their autonomy and self-determination. Combined, these practical strategies will enable fitness professionals to better attract and retain clients with ID in fitness programming.
