Lifestyle as Medicine: Protecting Cognition in Older Adults

The U.S. POINTER clinical trial explored whether structured lifestyle interventions can preserve cognitive function in adults aged 60–79 at increased risk for cognitive decline. Over 2,100 participants—including historically underrepresented groups—followed programs targeting physical activity, nutrition, cognitive stimulation, social engagement, and health monitoring. Results showed that both self-guided and structured interventions improved cognition, with the structured program delivering the greatest benefits. Attendees will learn the evidence-based “brain health recipe” and actionable strategies for supporting cognitive vitality through holistic lifestyle practices.
