Marjolijn Meijer founded Club Sportive in 1998, laying the groundwork for what would grow into the Urban Gym Group (UGG). In 2016, she partnered with Jordy Kool, and together they have scaled the company into a leading fitness and wellness group. Today, Marjolijn and Jordy serve as Vice Chairman and Chairman, jointly defining the group's strategic direction.
Before her career in fitness and health, Marjolijn was active in education. Her experience and interests focus on branding, design, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and talent development. She is widely regarded as a thought leader in fitness and entrepreneurship and is frequently sought after for her expertise in the industry.
Urban Gym Group now operates more than 50 clubs and studios across major cities in the Netherlands and London. The group is known for its innovative fitness concepts that combine performance, recovery, design, and community. Its portfolio includes TrainMore, which motivates members by rewarding them with €1 for every workout in architecturally iconic urban locations; Gymbox, a London-based brand with cutting-edge classes, extensive free weight and combat zones, and a vibrant atmosphere driven by music and culture; and Clubsportive, a premium fitness club located in Amsterdam’s Zuidas, offering high-end facilities and services.
Other brands under UGG include BTY CLB, known for energetic booty workouts in a nightclub-inspired setting complete with light shows, a stage, and live entertainers; PILAT3S, which brings a dynamic and enjoyable twist to traditional Pilates; TRIB3, a results-driven studio concept built around treadmill, resistance, and intensity zones with live heart rate tracking; and Gym Warehouse, a sustainability-focused initiative giving fitness equipment a second life and contributing to a circular economy.
In 2025, Marjolijn took over Renessence, a concept she co-created with a team of creatives. Previously part of UGG, Renessence has since evolved into Amsterdam’s premier wellbeing destination, merging science and spirituality through therapies, classes, and programs focused on self-optimization and longevity.
