We Need Your Help to Keep HSA Coverage for Physical Activity in the Reconciliation Package

Congress is finalizing its reconciliation package, and a critical provision that directly impacts our industry was removed from the Senate version of the bill.

We’re talking about the House-passed provision (rooted in the PHIT Act) that would allow Americans to use their Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) to cover physical activity expenses—like gym memberships, fitness classes, and youth sports—up to $500 per person or $1,000 per household annually.

This is a commonsense, prevention-focused policy that delivers tax relief, drives healthier outcomes, and supports youth access to physical activity. The House Ways and Means Committee recognized its importance, and we must ensure Congress includes it in the final package.

Two Ways You Can Help

1. Use this link to send a message to Congress! Let them know you want HSA coverage for physical activity to be included in the reconciliation package.

Send a Message to Congress

This message is tailored to express the unique needs and interests of fitness business leaders, staff, and professionals. Please share this link with everyone at your company—trainers, managers, front desk staff, HQ teams. The more voices, the greater the impact.

2. Get your members involved! Share this link with them, which allows them to send a specialized message to Congress expressing their support for PHIT.

Please share this link across your communication channels and encourage your members to do the same. You can:

  • Post it on your social media platforms

  • Include it in your member newsletters

  • Share through in-club signage, app alerts, or email outreach

Let’s show Congress that Americans care about access to affordable fitness and youth sports—and that our industry is united in the fight for preventive health.

Thank you for your continued leadership and advocacy.

Sincerely,
